You can change many keyboard shortcuts for Mac OS X applications and other applications in the Keyboard Shortcuts pane of Keyboard preferences. If you’re a regular Mac user, you know that every time a Mac starts up or reboots, it is accompanied by the startup sound. Some might like this, but others might despise it. While you can mute the startup sound by holding down the “Mute” key just before you shut it down, one of the better ways is to permanently disable your Mac’s. 1. Shut down completely
2. Press the power button
3. Wait for the startup chime
4. Immediately after (not before) the startup chime, press and hold the shift key. Do this until the grey apple loading screen shows up.
5. Wait while safe mode boots up. It will take a lot longer than regular OS X.
6. Log in (press shift-enter instead of enter after putting in your password to log in without login items.)
7. You are in safe mode
Safe mode will run disk repair, and ignores the cache of kernel extensions
The regular GUI is used in safe mode by default

The MacOS agent supports the following operating systems: Mac Agents. 10.15 (Catalina) 10.14 (Mojave) 10.13 (High Sierra) 10.12 (Sierra). If your Mac was muted, the startup chime will be silenced. To disable the startup sound, just press the “Mute” button on your keyboard (that’s the F10 key on a MacBook) before shutting down or restarting your Mac. If you ever have to restart your Mac for some reason but you don’t want it making any noise, just do this.
